DESCRIPTION
A translation of the first chapter of Juliet Schor's The Overspent American. Schor's book is a seething commentary on American consumer culture: we are what we buy. To reflect on this, I created the book out of monetary elements: an illustrated chapter opener portrays a consumer wearing clothes made from a balance book, swirling fronds xeroxed from dollar bills intrude on pages, vellum ledger pages house charts, and receipt type makes up pull quotes. |
